The Guerin Catholic Girls Lacrosse team continued its remarkable run in recent years by advancing to the State Championship for the 5th consecutive year. Led by Junior Claire Flannagan's flurry of goals, the Golden Eagles (16-4) defeated rival Carmel in the State Semifinals hosted by Zionsville High School. This was the 5th straight year these teams have met in the postseason with GC holding the edge at 3-2. After jumping out to a a 5-1 advantage, the Greyhounds stormed back to lead 7-6 as the 3rd quarter came to a close. Two late goals by Flannagan and senior Lucy Esposito helped seal the deal, however as the Golden Eagles look to pass one final test. That test will come in the form of Circle City Conference rival Bishop Chatard who advanced after soundly defeating the host Zionsville Eagles 19-12. The two teams met earlier in the year with GC coming away with an 11-7 victory, but the Trojans have solidified their #2 ranking in the time that's passed since the matchup.
