The Guerin Catholic Girls Lacrosse team fell in heartbreaking fashion to Bishop Chatard in the Class 2A State Championship game by a score of 15-14. In a terrific test of the #1 and #2 teams in the state, the Trojans emerged victorious, but not without a fantastic fight from the top ranked Golden Eagles. After falling behind 11-4 midway through the 2nd quarter, the Golden Eagles stormed back on the offense of Claire Flannagan and the defense of goalie Audrey Papay. With under 4 minutes remaining in the game, the purple and gold took the lead 14-13 before conceding two goals late for the Trojans to seal the victory. The team finishes 16-5 on the year and will finish in the top 2 in the state for the 5th consecutive year. Congratulations to Coach Joe Bellflower, his staff and all the incredible players on a tremendous season!
