Boys Golden Eagle Soccer Stumbles in First Game

By Charlie Barry | Aug 20, 2024 1:35 PM

The Guerin Catholic Boys Soccer opened up its 2024 season with a 3-1 loss to 3A foe Pendleton Heights. The match started with promise as the Golden Eagles controlled the pace of the game, which resulted in several scoring opportunities. The Team finally broke through around the 20th minute on a goal by Gavin Rieck '25, as he made a cross across the face of the goal which deflected off of an Arabian defender. Due to self-inflicted errors and continued missed scoring opportunities, Guerin was down 2-1 at half. Pendleton Heights added a 3rd goal on a defensive muscle in the middle of the second half. Added coach Alvarez, "We did what we wanted to do for much of the the match, but didn't have the necessary composure in transition to our defensive 3rd." Standout performances by Gavin Rieck, Cade Tyson '25, Joe Kainraith '25 and Conner Klen '27. The Golden Eagles are back in action tonight at Park Tudor at 7:00 PM
