Guerin Catholic Athletics is excited to announce the hiring of Jennifer Shortenhaus as the next Head Coach of the Girls Volleyball program. Shortenhaus brings a wealth of volleyball knowledge and accomplishment to this role. She played high school volleyball in Kalamazoo, Michigan where the team earned three state championships and she garnered First Team All-State recognition three years in a row. Following an accomplished high school career, Jennifer moved on to the University of Notre Dame from 1994-1997 where the team won three Big East Conference championships and advanced deep into the NCAA tournament three separate years. While at Notre Dame, she was named the Knute Rockne Scholar-Athlete Award winner twice while making the Dean’s List all four years. Following her playing career, she became the head coach of Loyola College (Maryland) for four years, raising the level of a previously struggling program to a top tier program in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. She lists AVCA Hall of Famer Jim McLaughlin and U.S. Olympic coach Greg Giovanazzi as coaching mentors. Jennifer and her husband are parishioners at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and have four daughters.
