Golden Eagles Softball Cannot Hold Onto Lead Versus Lebanon

Guerin Catholic Varsity Golden Eagles could not hold onto the lead against Lebanon on Wednesday and fell 18-6 despite leading by six at one point. The Golden Eagles got on the board in the top of the first inning after Lucy Kemp '25 singled, scoring two runs, Anna Mauch '25 doubled, scoring one run, Lauren Brady '26 singled, scoring one run, Brooklyn Fritsche '27 singled, scoring one run, and Ava Augustinovicz '28 singled, scoring one run. Lebanon flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring eight runs on eight hits to take the lead, 8-6. Lebanon added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after a triple down the right field line, and a sacrifice bunt, each scoring one run. Lebanon added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after another triple down the right field line. Lebanon scored six runs on three hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Augustinovicz opened the game for Guerin Catholic Varsity Golden Eagles. The starting pitcher surrendered 15 hits and 18 runs (six earned) over four innings, striking out one and walking three. Kemp drove the middle of the lineup, leading Golden Eagles with two runs batted in. The number three hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Madi Cain '25 and Augustinovicz each collected two hits for the team. Cain stole two bases. The Golden Eagles ran wild on the base paths, piling up five stolen bases for the game.
